Ville Leinonen & Valumo, who had a seven-year career from 1998 to 2005, are making a comeback to the stage and to a festival in the summer of 2025!
Founded in Savonlinna, the Tampere-based band was on hiatus for 20 years. The band returns with its latest lineup, which includes singer Leinonen, guitarist Tuomas Luukkonen, bassist Jere Leinonen, keyboardist Tuomo Hokka, and drummer Tommi Salminen. The band, which recorded for Poko Rekords, has hits including Tähtityttö, Tää on se ilta, and Enkeli. Valumo released a total of four studio albums, two live albums, and a number of singles.
“People have been asking about Valumo's return for as long as I can remember. I have always denied its possibility. Going back to the songs of youth seriously is not straightforward. It is about reopening diaries and mausoleums. However, it now seems that this time is practically screaming for such an emotional shake-up. Valumo live fits that need perfectly. Twenty years since the last gig sounds better than a shorter period,” comments Ville Leinonen. >
A crown for a romantic schlager prince was fitted on young Leinonen's head at the turn of the millennium. Ville Leinonen secured his place as a creator of a new era of schlager, a strong interpreter and performer mixing classic pop melodies with sensual chanson lyrics. Leinonen's soft voice combined with the twang of a guitar and electric organs, along with his charged performances in exhilarating live shows, offered a completely new take on the traditional schlager of the younger generation.
